As you may know we have for some time now been producing our gas and water valves with exchangeable stem sealing using Loctite (breakable type) to secure the stem nut instead of bending the nut wing downwards. The results have been positive, and therefore we are starting to make the loctite process a permanent part of the way we produce the valve.
The reason for the change in production is the increase of coating thickness on the bonnet and our intention to preserve the coating. The coating specifications on the bonnet have increased over the years, and we have faced problems with the coating being damaged from the bending of the wings. The consequence of this is that we have been forced to disassemble the valve, burn off the coating, blast clean the body/bonnet, recoat it and reassemble it.
This change will not affect our existing approvals and as such, you are not obliged to inform your customers.
As part of this change you may receive valves with the nut machined without the groove for the wing, mixed with deliveries where the nut still has the groove for the wing. However, both will be sealed with Loctite.
